Remora launches SMS Solution for Call Centre Messaging
January 2004
Remora Technologies Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Melbourne specialising in mobile technologies, has today announced a significant upgrade to the Eko SMS Application Server (pronounced "echo"), that target the requirements of Call Centres.
Mr Robert Silver, Chief Executive Officer said that this enterprise-class solution powered by Sun Microsystems hardware, has been developed to simplify and foster the adoption of SMS-based applications within a call centre environment. As an alternative mode of communicating with customers, SMS poses an excellent opportunity for call centre managers to reduce inbound call volumes, by providing information on-demand and alert services using SMS.
We are predicting that the use of two-way SMS applications will become a significant communication tool for call centres as an alternative means of communicating with customers and employees. It's the simple high volume and repetitive calls that we are targeting, by providing a smart SMS applications to receive and respond to customer requests, Mr Silver said.
Mr Silver also highlighted that SMS is also an excellent tool for employee resource allocation, with broadcasts going to all available personnel to fill vacant shifts.
The widespread acceptance of SMS by over 14 million Australian mobile phone users enables organisations to leverage this availability to achieve new and more efficient ways to communicate. Furthermore, the take up of SMS as a preferred communication method for many consumers has introduced a reliable technology for people to access business applications using text messages.
Mr Silver said that the industry has seen the proliferation of person-to-person text messaging, with over 12 million messages currently being sent every day in Australia. As a result of this adoption among consumers, we are now seeing a new paradigm of communication with smart applications, like Eko, that enable person-to-application interaction.
In conclusion, Mr Silver said he believes that the Eko product range fills a large void in today's emerging mobile communications industry, and will be welcomed by many organisations struggling to grapple with the complexities and achievable benefits of implementing standard and premium services using SMS.
